CYD NEWSLETTER 1
(May 6th, 2001)
Its great to see our 2 juniors Daniel Jones and Bryn Hughes starting the season with so much enthusiasm. Dan had a very good win at home against Penmaenmawr, while Bryn did the team proud by winning at Conwy.
Dan Jones Bryn Hughes
Ex Welsh International Gary
Roberts ( now a member of Craig-y-Don ) joined up with another ex
International Gareth Williams to win
the £300 first prize in the Tandderwen sponsored Rhos Park Pairs.
This
was the first occasion that Gary and Gareth had played together.
In
the final, they beat the home pairing of
Roger Wilson and Glyn Jones 21-6.
Terry Hampton and his band of helpers (who I wont mention in case I leave someone out) have worked wonders on and around the greens .Both greens are in very good condition and it is now very nice to be able to walk right around our no.1 green.
Well
done Terry +Co.!
The CYD A Team has started quite well with 5 winners at Bangor on the first Saturday of the season (lost 9-5), followed by a win at home to Penmaenmawr (8-6) then a good six points at tricky Conwy.
Tuesday nights is proving to be a struggle again . Llanrwst away first game no winners (lost 10-0), although we did have 3 19s including John Steen and Neville Roberts. The first home game against St Asaph was again disappointing losing 7-3, Bill Hitchinson having an excellent 21-7 win over a good young player. Blaenau Ffestiniog away next and although there were some good fighting performances and some bad luck (especially in Gareth Hughes game 15-21) we only managed one winner Gareth Williams 21 13.
