DAN JONES wins the Senior Gwynedd Merit
Congratulations to Dan Jones who at 13 gave an
outstanding performance to become the youngest person to win the
Gwynedd Senior merit. He beat the experienced Jane Bowler (Deganwy)
21-20 in a thrilling final at Llanfairfechan (Mon 06/05).
And Congratulations to Dan and
Bryn Hughes for both
winning in their debuts for the Welsh Junior team at Abergele on
Sunday 12 May. They helped the Welsh team to a fine win over
Cumbria.

Sunday May 12th - A full entry of 16 pairs battled it out over 6 games on a sunny day for the right to play in the Cup and Plate finals.

Pictured with Dave Massey (center) the club president who presented the prizes are Gary Buckland (Bangor) and Martin Hughes (Llanfair PG) who beat Brian Chamberlain (Llanfair PG) and Glen Magill (Deganwy) 21-14 to win the Cup competition. Tery Hampton and John Steen (CYD) beat Alun Williams and Rob Coulter (CYD) 21-6 to win the Plate Competition.
TEAM REPORTS
The Season is well underway and in the North Wales Coast league the 'A' team have just won their first match in Section A last Saturday, beating Denbigh 12-2 at home. The 'B' team have won two matches in Section C and tere is only a few points between 4 mid table teams.
In the Llandudno and District League the loacal derby between the club's A + B teams ended in a draw. Over the last 6 matches the honours have been even with 2 wins each and 2 draws. Both teams are in mid table positions in Section A. The 'C' team in Section B have won 3 of their first 5 matches. The B team are still progressing in the cup while the A and C teams are now competing in the Consolation Cup.
In the Welsh Counties League the team have won 2 of their first 3 matches in Division 2.
In the Senior Citizens League Llanrwst sprang a surprise by beating CYD 8-1.
Denbigh knocked out CYD in the North Wales Coast League Cup first round. There was success however in the Gwynedd Cup, CYD (having lost in the final last year to Deganwy) beat Penmaenmawr in the first round.
GWYNEDD COUNTY PARKS
Gareth Hughes and Terry Lea gave a good account of themselves in the away game at North Midlands (Sun 26/05), both narrowly losing. Gwynedd only had one winner away and lost the overall tie heavily.
WELSH MERIT QUALIFIER
Roger Morgan the holder of the Welsh Merit title, has qualified again for the final day of the competition. At the Peibio B.C (Holyhead) on Saturday 25th May he won 4 games deating John Evans (Llanfair PG) in the qualifying match. Other CYD participants at Peibio were Gareth Hughes, Gareth Williams, John Steen, Dan Jones, Terry Lea and Dave Morgan Jones (who just failed 19-21 to qualify).
